LONDON — Duolog Technologies (Dublin, Ireland), a provider of intellectual property, design services and EDA tools, has announced the acquisition of the technology and products of Beach Solutions Ltd. (Plymouth, England) in a combined cash and equity deal.
Beach Solutions is a privately held, EDA company established in 1998 which offers register management tools for system-on-chip (SoC) design. Beach was a founding member of the Spirit consortium, an industry group set up to define a standardized way to describe design IP (IP-XACT).
The amount paid by Duolog to the owners of Beach Solutions was not disclosed. Nor was it indicated how many people's employment would transfer to Duolog. The Beach Solutions website at www.beachsolutions.com now diverts to the website of Duolog.
"This is an important and extremely beneficial acquisition for Duolog. We have added valuable functionality to our products, further strengthened our client portfolio and attained an instant presence in the Japanese market, a major global market for EDA software and complex IC design, where Beach already had a strong presence," said Ray Bulger, co-founder and CEO of Duolog in a statement. He added: "We are fully committed to supporting existing Beach customers and have taken on key members of the Beach team to achieve this."
Ray Bulger concluded: "As the market matures, there will inevitably be consolidation and Duolog, with our award-winning products, is in an excellent position to drive this consolidation."
Duolog, which had 130 staff in 2007, currently employs more than 80 people with design centers in Galway, Ireland and Budapest, Hungary, as well as U.S. and international operations
