Socrates is a hub for chip integration, from IP port to Chip pin. It allows the capture of a standardized view of IP-level and chip-level designs, validates the data to ensure correctness and generates source views for different teams, including hardware and software views, design and verification views, ESL and implementation views. Socrates encapsulates:
- IP Packaging and Standardization: Socrates can be used to standardize the different views of an IP, including hardware and software views
- HW/SW Interface Management: Socrates enables full capture, validation and generation of a wide range of register data, enabling smoother HW/SW integration
- IP integration and Chip assembly: Socrates provides a high-level integration environment to allow rapid, robust and reusable IP integration
- I/O Layer Management: Socrates enables the auto-generation of a complete I/O layer of a SoC from a single-source specifciation, including all pin multiplexing, I/O cells, DFT insertion and die/package linkage
- Socrates also enables cost-effective development of customer-specific integration applications
